The US Fuel Efficiency Standard has not changed in 25 years?

In 1985 our fuel efficiency standard was 27.5 mpg. According to an article posted on thegoodhuman.com and in other sources this week, we learned that the U.S. Fuel Efficiency Standard in 2010 remains only 27.5 mpg. 25 years without any increase and we claim we are committed to fuel economy and breaking our addiction to foreign oil!
